Standard Rides

In season (Daylight Savings Time) schedule:

Off season schedule:

Member supplied ride map of Eagle Mtn. Lake ride

Club rides vary in intensity and length.  Typically, routes are decided while waiting for the ride to begin based on weather, wind and composite attitude.  In general, they are 50 to 75 miles long on the weekends and 30 - 45 miles on the weekdays.  During the summer, they are considered training rides, so intensity is at race conditions (22 - 25+ mph during attacks and average speeds around 20 mph). During the winter it is often much easier.  Many times, however, a faction might break off to shorten / lengthen or simply to adjust the speed and intensity during the ride.  Officially, the rides are "leaderless" in that there is NO ONE responsible for dropped riders ... that said ... in 16 years we have made every effort not to leave riders stranded or lost.  Please bring appropriate food, water, tire repair capability and money (for a phone call) to each ride - Assume you have to provide for yourself.

Standard Ride Schedule:

In Season: (Daylight Savings Time)

8:00 A.M. Saturday at Bicycles, Inc. in Bedford, Texas  55 - 75 miles miles at a brisk pace (20mph+) ~ hot spots, hills, city limit sprints, one or two regroupings.

2:00 P.M. Sunday at Bicycles, Inc. in Bedford, Texas.  There will be two rides:

bulletA standard training ride covering approximately 40 miles at race pace similar to Tuesday and Thursday rides.  There are usually one or two regroupings.

bulletA controlled, intermediate ride of 30 -35 miles at a "Conversational Pace +/- 15 mph" - no one will be dropped or left behind.  This ride is perfect for those wishing to explore racing or team style riding ~ frequent regroupings.

5:00 P.M. Sunday at Bicycles, Inc in Arlington, Texas. 30 miles at a "Conversational Pace +/- 15 mph" - no one will be dropped or left behind. Another perfect ride for those who wish to explore racing as an alternative to recreational riding.

6:00 P.M. Tuesday and Thursday evening at  Bicycles, Inc.  in Bedford, Texas 35 - 40 miles at a fast pace, hills, no regroupings, many options for cutting the ride short for people off the pace

6:00 P.M. Tuesday and Thursday evening at  Bicycles, Inc.  in Keller, Texas 35 - 40 miles at a moderate pace, hills, many options for cutting the ride short for people off the pace

NOT a Team Ride

Beginner's ride: Daylight Savings Time - Wednesday 6:00 P.M. A beginner's ride is held with coaches furnished by TBi. 10 - 12 miles at a 10 - 12 mph pace. This ride is for those new to bicycling.

Off Season: (Not Daylight Savings Time)

8:00 A.M. Saturday & Sunday at Bicycles, Inc. in Bedford, Texas (817.268.6572)     50 - 70 miles at an off-season pace (17 - 22 mph) ~ hot spots, city limit sign sprints, frequent re-groupings.

6:00 P.M. Tuesday and Thursday evening at Texas Motor Speedway:

Parking: Please park behind the TMS gift shop/ticket office--the small building adjacent to the sprint car track and directly across from the pond/lake on I-35W (with "floating" stock car, stock truck, Indy car). There is a small lighted parking lot directly behind the building--you should see the cars.

Direction: The ride loop is clockwise so we can avoid cross traffic on the East side.  You can begin the ride by riding counter-clockwise--you can then pick up the group/s.

Length: One loop is approximately 5 miles. We generally ride ~5 loops.

This is an open training ride. There are other clubs/riders that will likely be present at various times. TMS is really the only venue in the area that offers a safe, lighted, low-traffic loop. In the winter over half the ride is in the dark so flashers are strongly encouraged--but with the street lights you really don't need a headlamp (although it certainly wouldn't hurt). This is a GREAT ride for cyclists of all abilities--with the loop; if you get dropped you can always turn around and catch the group on the next lap. It's also great winter training with frequent sprints, pack riding, and pace-line work. This is a "low-key" event/ride so don't hesitate to come out!

**Winter weather is clearly unpredictable so before you head out be sure to check local radar--although someone is always out there riding.

5:30 P.M. Tuesday and Thursday evening at  Bicycles, Inc.  in Bedford, Texas.  This is a NIGHT ride.  Slow to moderate pace. Head and Tail lights required!

Most Sundays (on and off season - barring extreme weather) there is a 2 P.M. "conversational ride" at Bicycles, Inc. in Bedford, Texas.   35 miles at a "Conversational Pace +/- 15 mph" - no one will be dropped or left behind.  This ride is perfect for those wishing to explore racing or team style riding ~ frequent regroupings.
