A TXBRA Elite road race featuring “Cherry Pie Hill” with Climber of the Year points.  5660’ of climbing for Pro-12 Road Race Stage alone!  This is a 3-stage race through beautiful and challenging terrain of Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County, Texas including an Individual Time Trial, a Road Race and a Criterium (Criterium features time primes and bonuses).

P1/2 field of 51 – 79 purse is $2,500 and under 51, the purse is $2,000.  All other cats - if minimum field size is not met, prize money will be based on $20.00 per entered rider in that category.

 

Road Race Course Description May 22nd: This year's road race course features several climbs and fast descents, including the infamous Cherry Pie Hill (1.2 miles @6% avg.). P12, M35+, 45/55+, W123 will also experience a challenging set of steep climbs and thrilling views on a road that provides a Euro experience. There will only be one feed zone for each category, except for P12, which will have two. Be prepared to manage your own feeds and stay hydrated!

TT Course Description May 22nd:
7.3 miles featuring long, slightly downhill curvy sections and the long climb up Cherry Pie Hill.

Criterium Course Description May 23rd:
A highly technical, flat course with 8 turns in .9 miles. Finish stretch is a high-speed curve with a short straight sprint section. Excellent preparation for the State Criterium. Time Primes and bonuses will be awarded!

Directions:  Take US281 north from Interstate 20 or US180 West through Weatherford from Interstate 20 near Fort Worth to Mineral Wells.  Road Race Start/finish, TT finish, and parking adjacent to Palo Pinto courthouse 14 miles west of Mineral Wells on Hwy 180.  TT start is 7.3 miles from finish line, parking is limited – plan to warm-up ride to the start or be dropped off. Criterium will be held at Mineral Wells High school (3801 Ram Blvd, Mineral Wells, TX  - Just off US 180)

 

Registration and Sign in: Friday registration 6pm – 10 pm at Best Western Inns, 4410 Hwy 180 East, Mineral Wells, TX.  Race day registration is at the Palo Pinto Elementary School, 100 ft from S/F line in Palo Pinto (you can’t miss it) opens at 6AM and closes 30 minutes before scheduled race time.  Packet pickup for pre-registered riders will be at the registration site.

 

 

Other Important Stuff:  ALL USCF Rules Apply. Yellow Line Rule strictly enforced. Junior Gears inspected before start and at the finish.  Team Wheels in / Wheels out. Racers may only work with those in their own race. All riders out of contention (behind follow vehicle for their race) MUST obey all Texas Traffic Laws.  Race is held rain or shine. Racers must successfully complete each stage in order to be eligible for the next one.  Helmets must be worn at all times while on the bike.  Valid and current USCF license must be presented at registration.  Promoter reserves the right to adjust start times and mileage.  Promoter reserves the right to cancel/combine events and prize lists as necessary.  Overall place determined by lowest accumulated time.  Held under USCF Permit: Pending

 

Stage Race Rules:
Each rider's general classification shall be calculated by summing that rider's time in all individual stages, taking into account any time bonuses and penalties. In case two or more riders are tied in their final general classifications, their order shall be determined by adding their places obtained in each stage. If this does not suffice to break the tie, ties are broken by place in the criterium. We reserve the right to combine races and prize lists with fewer than 15 entries. Riders seen littering the roads of Palo Pinto County will be disqualified and possibly suspended!  Put it in your pocket!
